Home only

If you already have a place for the home, ask about home-only financing. A personal-property loan, also called chattel financing, is secured by the home rather than the land.

Home and land

If you are purchasing both, ask about financing that includes the home and land. Property, installation, and lender requirements need to be considered together.

You already own land

Share whether the land is paid off, who owns it, and its location. Ask whether land equity can be considered under an applicable program; the lender must confirm.
